Alan Beck and his wife visited with us this past Sunday and he delivered two very educational lessons on two groups of people mentioned in Acts chapter 17 – the Epicureans and the Stoic philosophers. He also talks about the acronym, YOLO that many of today’s youth cite for their actions, plans, and behaviors. Is there good and bad in all of these people and actions?
Please take the time to listen to both lessons. You’ll learn more about the background of some of the people and philosophies that Paul and other Gospel writers dealt with, and how they factor into the texts of the Bible. They also remind us of how the people and events of today are not so different than they were back then. People still want to see things their way, or a different way, and too often it is not God’s way.
