Who I Am Makes a Difference

Have you ever wondered “what if”? We often ask ourselves this question when we hear bad news about people we love who have done things to themselves – even taking their own lives! People can get so depressed or feel like their situation has no feasible end, and plan to do harm to themselves or others, and sometimes someone says just the right thing, at the right time, to thwart their plans and things work out.

  • The focus of this lesson was due in part to a member request, and began with a story of the same name as these lessons, by Helice “Sparky” Bridges found on the Blue Ribbon Story website here.

Recordings of both lessons are below:

Who I Am Makes A Difference – Martin, part 1

Who I Am Makes A Difference – Martin, part 2

My name is Roger, I’m the guy who puts up the lessons on our site, and manage our electronic media and Facebook page. This story hits home with me. I push my kids, my wife, and my family to try to rid themselves of the ‘burrs’ and ‘sharp edges’ in their personalities, or in their work around the house or at school. Just as I try to be a better person, I push them to do the same. But I don’t always share my appreciation with the good that is done. It is SO EASY to only see the things not done, or not done well. I’m working on it, and perhaps after listening to the lessons below, you too will want to try a little harder to show more appreciation, and less correction. Together we can!

Side note: there are some comments regarding the challenges in the decisions our congregation is making as we finish our new building. A few of the decisions have been revised several times to try to meet both our budget and our member preferences in the middle, and that has not been easy. So if you hear some content on making difficult decisions or working together, that is what it is all about.
