What Do I Plan to Do? – Martin, part 2

Lesson 1

2 Corinthians 1:15-20“And in this confidence I intended to come to you before, that you might have a second benefit – to pass by way of you to Macedonia, to come again from Macedonia to you, and be helped by you on my way to Judea. Therefore, when I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes, Yes, and No, No? But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us – by me, Silvanus, and Timothy – was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

  • With God all things are Yes, because He always answers positive.
  • That is a hard concept for us, but it is true.
  • He has made that promise and God will not lie.
  • God will always keep His promises and His word.
  • Paul knew that and expressed that to them.
  • In return, we have things we need to do to keep our promises and word to Him.
  • We are starting a new year with new blessings, new gifts, new people in our lives and a new place to assemble.
  • The church at Waynesville that belongs to Christ has a work to do.
  • As individuals, we have a work to do.
  • What do I plan to do?

What Do I Plan To Do?

  • The best example of perfect and complete planning is from God.
  • Before time began, God planned everything perfectly.
  • He then kept that plan perfectly.
  • Let’s take a look at that plan.

A Plan Of Salvation – Christ

  • Planned before the world began – Titus 1:1-3; Acts 2:22-23
  • Planned with a timetable – John 7:8; Galatians 4:4-5
  • Planned to the day – Matthew 16:21
  • Knew the plan was His death on the cross – John 10:15-18
  • Never doubted the plan – John 12:23-33
  • Willing to die for the plan – Matthew 26:2; Hebrews 12:1-3
  • Completely fulfilled the plan – Mark 14:49; Luke 24:44-48
  • An everlasting sacrifice for sins – Hebrews 10:10-18

A Plan For A Universal Law

  • A new Kingdom – Daniel 2:44; Luke 16:16-17
  • A new law – Hebrews 10:1-9 (9)
  • The old nailed to the cross – Colossians 2:13-14
  • The old being removed as the new is completed – Hebrews 8:13
  • The new would bring everyone into one kingdom – Ephesians 2:14-22
  • Completing the plan – Luke 21:20-33

A Plan To Get The New Law To All

  • Prophesied – Isaiah 2:3
  • Planned who would start – Matthew 16:18-19
  • Planned well – Matthew 28:18-20
  • Executed – Acts 2:14; Acts 10:19-20
  • Both Jew and Gentile – Galatians 2:7
  • Completing the plan – Colossians 1:6, 23

We can clearly see from this that God had a perfect plan; that the plan was executed perfectly to the day and that the plan brought a new law to both Jew and Gentile.

  • With that plan came some requirements for salvation.
  • One must obey those commands that Christ gave for salvation while He was on earth.

Lesson 2

Do we have plans for our spiritual well-being for the coming year?

Do We Have A Plan To Obey The Commands Of God’s Plan?

What Is Our Plan For Obedience?

  • Christ obeyed completely – Hebrews 5:8-9a
  • We need to obey as well – Hebrews 5:9b
  • Do we understand our salvation is based on Christ’s death, burial and resurrection? – 1 Corinthians 15:1-3
  • Did we obey from the heart that form of doctrine? – Romans 6:16-17
  • Do we plan to continue to obey? – Colossians 1:21-23
  • Do we understand the seriousness of this? – Romans 13:11-14

Since God planned for our salvation, shouldn’t we plan for our salvation?

Do We Have A Plan To Work Harder To Understand The New Law?

What Is Our Plan For Understanding?

  • How hard do we work to understand? – Ephesians 3:3-4
  • Do we plan to use our time more wisely? – Ephesians 5:15-17
  • Do we plan to work harder to rightly divide the word of God? – 2 Timothy 2:15
  • Do we plan to use more family time studying the bible? – Ephesians 6:4
  • Do we plan to spend more time in study with Christians? – Acts 2:46-47
  • Do we understand the seriousness of this? – Hosea 4:6; 1 Corinthians 15:33-34

Since God planned for the new law, shouldn’t we plan to better understand it?

Do We Have A Plan To Work Harder To Teach Others The Gospel?

What Is Our Plan For Teaching?

  • Do we understand the eternal consequences? – 2 Corinthians 5:11
  • Do we understand the necessity? – 1 Corinthians 9:16
  • Do we believe it enough to teach others? – Hebrews 5:12-14
  • Do we plan to work on our courage and boldness? – Acts 4:23-31
  • Do we have a plan of approach? – 1 Corinthians 9:19-23
  • Do we have a plan to invite others? – Matthew 11:28-30

Since God planned for the gospel to be the power to save, shouldn’t we tell others about it?

  • We have been entrusted with the word of God. With that comes great responsibility!  What are we planning to do this year?
  • Start today by obeying the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Believe, Repent, Confess Him and be Immersed in water for the remission of sins!
