The goal of the sermon was to challenge Christians to take Paul’s commands seriously: remain spiritually alert, stand unmoved in the faith, be courageous, and be strong in the Lord. The sermon presents the Christian life as a spiritual battle requiring vigilance, courage, endurance, and dependence on God.
