In a world where everyone pretends to have perfection in their lives (jobs, clothes, family, spouses, body) online or in social media, today Roger had us look at all those who actually lived a perfect life as a Christian from the New Testament.
- Who were these perfect Christians?
- How did they do it?
- How many were there?
- Do we have the instructions in the text of the bible on HOW to be perfect?
- If we do, why are so few able to do it?
Lesson one looks at the requirements for perfection, then focuses on two significant men from the New Testament, and we see why they were chosen, their character, their accomplishments, and how well they did to succeed in being, perfect.
In the second lesson, we focus almost entirely on James chapter 3, looking at how our “perfection” is demonstrated in either the positive, or the negative from what we say. Then we see that what we say is actually a product of who we are. We conclude the lessons by recognizing aspects of our personalities that tend to loose the impact of what humans are capable of and the problem of higher expectations than are feasible.
- Do we expect others to be perfect?
- Do they expect it of us?
- Is this right?
- What do such views do to our relationships in and out of the church?
