In the spirit of Fathers Day being celebrated today, Kyle Jones presented two lessons on redemption. The Redeemer is a father-based lesson on Who it is that we have taking care of our sins as Christians. The second lesson, “The Redeemed” takes a look at Christians and why we are so fortunate to have a Redeemer who takes care of our weaknesses.
Recordings for both lessons, a gallery of slides from both lessons, and text from both lessons are below…

For those who wish to see text, we’ll try to start posting text versions of the lessons from the PowerPoint presentation…
The Redeemer
Our Father
One is your Father
Matthew 23:9
9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
Who is God
Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Everlasting to Everlasting
Psalm 90:2
2 Before the mountains were brought forth,
Or ever You had formed the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
Who is God- His way is perfect
Psalm 18:30
30 As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
Who is God- Balak and Balaam
Balak wanted Balaam to curse his enemies – Numbers 23
Numbers 23:19
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Who is God- Love is of God
1 John 4:7-9
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
Created Us
Job 12:7-10
7 “But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you;
And the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
8 Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you;
And the fish of the sea will explain to you.
9 Who among all these does not know
That the hand of the Lord has done this,
10 In whose hand is the life of every living thing,
And the breath of all mankind?
Created Us- Breath of life
Genesis 2:7
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Loves Us
2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
God is merciful
Psalm 116:5
5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.
Every perfect gift is from above
James 1:17
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Loads us with benefits
Psalm 68:19-20
19 Blessed be the Lord,
Who daily loads us with benefits,
The God of our salvation! Selah
20 Our God is the God of salvation;
And to God the Lord belong escapes from death.
Commands Us
Old Testament – Moses about Offerings
Leviticus 22-31-33
31 “Therefore you shall keep My commandments, and perform them: I am the Lord.
32 You shall not profane My holy name, but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel. I am the Lord who sanctifies you, 33 who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord.”
Commands Us
1 Timothy 6:14
14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing,
Not burdensome
1 John 5:3
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
God is what matters
1 Corinthians 7:19
19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.
Holds us Accountable
2 Chronicles 30:8-9
8 Now do not be stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord; and enter His sanctuary, which He has sanctified forever, and serve the Lord your God, that the fierceness of His wrath may turn away from you. 9 For if you return to the Lord, your brethren and your children will be treated with compassion by those who lead them captive, so that they may come back to this land; for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn His face from you if you return to Him.”

He purchased with His own blood

28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
No Matter how Great the Sin
Paul
1 Timothy 1:15
15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
That we might live
1 John 4:9
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
God has sent His only begotten Son
Gods son to be crucified
Luke 23:21
21 But they shouted, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!”
Acts 2:36-37
36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
All have sinned and fall short
Romans 3:23-26
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Each one
Galatians 6:4-5
4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For each one shall bear his own load.
Mind your own business
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, 12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.
Not working at all
2 Thessalonians 3:11-13
11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.
13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.
Redeemed
Who do we compare to
Paul?
Beginning of his life?
End of his life?
2 Corinthians 10:12
12 For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
One person to compare to-
1 Corinthians 11:1
11 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Ephesians 5:1-2
5 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Eternal life
Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 John 5:3
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
Mark 16:16
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
