Waynesville member, Ryan Mortland, finished part 2 of his lesson “The Power of Diligence” today. As he noted in his previous lesson, we may often feel like we don’t deserve things, that we’ll mess things up, that we’ll never succeed, that we can’t do something, or we are not good enough. Ryan had previously pointed out that such feelings are part of Satan’s strategy to cause us to doubt.
So today, in part 2, Ryan shows us how we can combat these things. Like what, you say? Things like Dedication, Determination, Tenacity, Persistence, Perseverance, Diligence, and Thoroughness. Ryan goes on to show how these words can be utilized and practiced by Christians to overcome Satan.
He notes that doubt should never have the final say about anything, that only God does!
If we feel we don’t deserve something, we just go to God’s word to see that through Christ we are worthy of God’s blessing and we are a new creation in Him.
If we fear we’ll make a mistake, we can know that in Christ our steps will follow Him.
If we feel we don’t have what it takes, we can know that in Christ we are more than enough and He equips us with all we need!
If we say we‘ll never succeed, we can learn that Christ will allow us to rise up after every fall.
If we feel there is no point in trying or that something is too hard, we can be certain that with Christ our work is never worthless and that with Him we can overcome anything!
Christ makes us worthy, more than enough, able to overcome failure, and have the strength to persevere. So, do we want doubt and darkness or trust and sunshine ahead of us?
His lesson ends with Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
