After being away for some summer travel, Kyle was back with us today and shared a lesson that he said he never remembered doing a lesson on and that is “Preparedness”. In our lives, have this attribute will make life work better for us and for those around us. Are we prepared for an accident in the snow, heat, or storm? Do we have cash when we go somewhere that does not accept credit or debit cards? Do we have our wallets or purses? For everything we do, there is a “maybe” that exists. Even if the need is for what is pending, many still fail to have the things with them that they will need. Case in point, have you ever seen people leaving a beach or swimming pool that is unusually red? Were they prepared for the sun they exposed their bodies too? Far too often the answer is NO! But some of us are rarely burned by the sun or anything else that life throws at us because we try to be prepared.
The same is true for all things spiritual. In fact, the need for preparedness is far greater for something that could occur at any moment. Even Christ said only the Father knows when the end will come, but to be ready.
In looking at preparedness, Kyle’s lesson begins by taking a look at John the Baptist in preparing the way for Christ. Then he looks at Mary and Martha and their relationship and how they were both looking at different types of preparation. He looks at Jesus and all the things he says and teaches about being prepared. He talks about the Holy Spirit or “helper” and finishes up by talking about how Jesus prepared the Apostles.
