For the past several years, the church at Waynesville has been planning and building at our new location on Corwin Avenue. Today’s lessons discuss the effort and time put into our plans to see our goals accomplished accordingly. Another part of the lessons is looking back to when the same thing was done for the location at Third and Miami Streets in Waynesville back in 1955.
There was a need, plans, and work done to make a location for the church to meet at both locations. While that was successful both times and the neighbors see the buildings, what do they learn? From a building, sign, or parking lot they can learn our name, meeting times, and address. But what about salvation? What about Who God is? What about why church matters? Those things don’t come from buildings or parking lots but from the Word of God shared by the members of the congregation.
So Roger’s lessons today were to reflect on the past, see where we all stand today, and to get us to think about the future of the church, of our congregation, and about one day being with God. The Bible deals with the past, present, and future from Genesis to Revelation. It is no different today. What does the Bible teach us? What can we learn from the success and failures of those mentioned in the Bible? How will those things shape our own futures?
Please listen to both lessons and follow along by clicking through the Powerpoint slides while you listen. Lots of scripture, lots of construction photos to see!
