Kingdom

On November 7th, Kyle Jones presented a lesson on “Kingdom” mentioned in Matthew 6:33. He goes on to discuss the kingdoms of the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites!

He talks about the many kings of Israel and Judah. But he starts with the warning of God to Samuel in 1 Samuel 8:10-18.

He asks, what his listeners think of when we talk of kings and kingdoms? What roles do monarchs hold? King, yes, but what about a high priest, marshall, general, treasurer, soldier, enforcer, or warden?

While God tried to warn His children of the bad that a king would give them, the people did not listen. The New Testament flips the table on what humans think of as ‘power’. It tells us that the greatest among us would be servants.

The rest of the lesson discusses the roles of the king’s court and how they behaved, wrapping up with the “Everlasting Kingdom”.
