The sermon’s goal is to show that Matthew 1:1 is not a throwaway genealogical introduction but a concentrated claim that Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promises. Jesus fulfills the promise to bless all nations through Abraham’s seed, the promise of an eternal throne through David’s descendant, and the prophetic expectation of the Messiah.
