God Holds the Future

Our “5th Sunday” worship occurred this past Sunday, as it does every month with 5 Sundays in a single month. Our tradition is to use these days to focus on a single subject using song, scripture, and lessons to help those in attendance be surrounded by things to remember about the theme.

The lessons for this month were “God Holds the Future”. While we don’t record the passages read or songs sung for the first lesson, we did get the short invitation by brother Martin, as well as his full 2nd lesson. Both are below…

God Holds the Future – Martin, part 1

God Holds the Future – Martin, part 2

Roger only grabbed Abe’s first Powerpoint presentation, for our songs and scripture reading. He’ll try to get the second lesson’s outline here soon…

The passages below can be found in your bible, or on the many available online. Most of our membership use the New King James version of the bible for its accuracy to original languages, and modern reading style. All songs listed below are from the Songs of Faith and Praise books.

Isaiah 46:5-10
Isaiah 44:1-8

560 – Living By Faith
69 – God Holds The Future

Acts 3:12-21
Galatians 4:4-7

839 – In His Time
138 – Our Heavenly Father Understands

James 4:13-17
Matthew 6:25-34

464 – Because He Lives

Psalm 33:8-11 – “Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.  For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.  The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.  The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.”

1 Peter 1:13-23 – “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:13-23 – “And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

1 Peter 1:13-23 – “He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever”

674 – I Have Decided to Follow Jesus
