Generosity – A Christian’s Duty

Abe’s timely lesson for today was on the need for a Christian to be generous with their lives. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Well, we all know that living a life with generosity as part of our nature is NOT easy. In fact, it can often be a source of great contention in many of our relationships – especially our marriage relationships. ‘Shall I keep giving for others to take?’ Well, the answer to that is both YES and NO.

God does not expect us to set ourselves up to be taken advantage of, but he does give us very good lessons on ‘going the extra mile’ and ‘giving our cloak to those without’.

In essence, we need to look at God and Christ to see how this behavior needs to be meted out. God keeps giving us life, health, sight, food, even when we sin and don’t show Him respect. This is true with Christ too. He came and died for our sings, saves us from sin, and reserves all things for us eternally including forgiveness, yet so often so many never know Him or seek Him out.
