Today, Kyle shares a really good lesson on First Impressions.
He begins with social stats on what first impressions are often based on posture, voice, and emotion. Once made it is often hard to shake what you feel for what is true or more accurate.
He shares stats on things that are noted in interviews, including eye contact, smiles, posture, dress, voice quality, and the words we use.
To look at the spiritual side of this topic, Kyle turns to 1 Kings 10 and looks at the Queen of Sheba visiting Solomon. Then in 1 Samuel 17 he looks at how Goliath looked at David.
In Genesis 24, he notes how Abraham’s servant prayed for a specific first impression and got exactly what he asked for!
Later he looks at Andrew and Peter and notes that the person that Andrew saw directed him to his brother and his brother became one of Jesus’ most important servants!
The clothes that John the Baptist wore could have been enough to turn people away from him, but his message was greater.
When Jesus’ parents left Jerusalem when he was young, they may have given up on him when he stayed in the temple, but his mother kept this in her heart.
Quoting Warren Buffett, Kyle noted that it takes 20 years to build a reputation, and just 5 minutes to ruin it. He also notes that our reputation can precede us.
Proverbs says in 22:1 that “a good name is to be chosen rather than great riches!”. Zacchaeus hear of Who and What Jesus was and was anxious to see him so he climbed a tree to see in in the crowd.
Ananias was not willing to follow God’s directions when He wanted him to help Paul, knowing who Paul was (previously).
Acts 6 notes that the selected men support the widows who were being neglected by finding men of “good reputation” and per 1 Timothy 6 this can be found if we pursue righteousness and godly life.
