Finding Peace

Waynesville member, Roger Starnes Jr., presented the lesson today, entitled, “Finding Peace”. He begins the lesson looking back to the lessons taught by fellow member Brad Beckett on Wednesday nights for our mid-week study where he’s been going over the sacrificial worship of the Jews in the Old Testament. Things like the various sacrifices, temple worship, Israel and Jewish practices, laws and rules as well as offerings. But he begins at one offering we’ve been discussing on Wednesdays, the “Peace Offering”.

Roger, like many of those at the Waynesville church, are not fully schooled in the complexity of many of the practices of the Jews. So he searched the internet for a website that talked about the Peace Offering from a modern-day Jews perspective (see slides for the website noted).

On the website that Roger referenced was an in-depth review of the Peace Offering and why it is so important to the Jew, and to us. Several slide are shared on their view. But then Roger changes focus to look at “Peace” in the text of scripture. What brings peace and what takes it away?

Do we all love peace in our lives? The answer should be 100% YES! But how do we find that in our path through life? The many passages that Roger cites show us how a Christian can find peace. He also shows how important peace was to the apostle Paul in his writings.

You can learn about the Peace that Roger shares today by listening to his lesson on the recording below and following along with his PowerPoint sides in our gallery. We are always happy to answer question on any topic, so feel free to ask us.
