Faith

Every year in early June, the Waynesville congregation is the landing place for many campers on their way to Camp Kern near Fort Ancient which is just south of Waynesville, Ohio. There are many members at Waynesville as well as many other area congregations of the church who are alumni from Florida College and the campers are either children of Florida College graduates or are kids who hope to attend the school after they graduate high school. Waynesville does not fund or support the school as a church, but there are many members at Waynesville and other location congregations who sponsor the school through their personal contributions.

From the campers in transit, we get to enjoy a gifted bunch of kids and parents who sing well to join us in worship each year, making it one of our favorite times. Our attendance is 4-5 times what it normally is when the campers are in town! For our speakers, at this time the first lesson is presented to a lot of people. But the campers leave between our 1st and 2nd assemblies so the 2nd lesson is to a much smaller (though still enthusiastic) crowd.

Jim Grushon, a member of the Kettering congregation, presented both lessons today on Faith. He also noted that no matter your background, be it religious or secular, you have faith in something you can’t see. So testifying for your faith should not be something we ever avoid.

Jim discussed the differing points of view on where all things came from, and noted only one is reasonable. The other is pretty much impossible. Yet so many people feel they have little to stand on when trying to stand for the mind of God being behind all that is, was, and shall ever be.

As depicted during his lesson, ink pens write, but only when held by intelligence. Eyeglasses work only after being made by intelligence.

Recordings of both lessons are below…
