Dead Ends

On March 14th, Roger gave a lesson on “Dead Ends” noting that all of us have faced them physically and emotionally, or at work, in life, with family, or all of the above!

He begins by asking if you have ever seen a dead end? Hit one? Felt one? How did it feel?

Israel hit many dead ends as a people, but they faced none as big as when they were leaving Egypt for the wilderness and stopped at the Red Sea.

While no one knows for sure how many people were in Israel at that time, some estimates put the number as high as between 4 and 6 million people! Consider that! How to move that many people away from Egypt quickly but how to feed, water, and help that many people along!

Roger shares some visual images of crowds from the news said to be nearly 1 million in size to just help paint a picture of the number of that many people!

From the million + during Seoul, South Korea’s protest for the resignation of their president in 2016 to the million people who joined the parade after the Denver Broncos won their Super Bowl!

Roger goes on to read from Exodus chapter 14 to remind us of the events following the exodus of Israel from Egypt and all they faced.

In Exodus 14:13-14, all those people are told to “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord”. Could you imagine?

Roger goes on reading the chapter and showing other images to help paint a picture of what Israel was up against. Yes, a rock and a hard place for sure!

But Egypt too faced a dead end in a different way, a bad way.

While Israel faced a dead end at the sea, they also had another behind them with their pursuers from Egypt and Roger shows just what all those pursuers had with each of them to deal with Israel with.

Even after God saved Israel, barely into the new land the people are complaining again. What dead end are you dealing with now that God can help you through?

A recording of Roger’s lesson is below as are the slides from his PowerPoint lesson.
