Brethren – 02/02/14

Abe’s lessons today were focused on the “brethren” or the local body of the church. How do we work with one another? Who should we lead and follow, and when? Who makes decisions, on what basis, and once those decisions are made, how to we ensure they are accurate and good for the local body?

All these questions can be answered by the lessons below. God didn’t just ask man to randomly set-up the church, HE set up the church, Christ established it, the Apostles confirmed it, they passed it on the some by the laying on of hands, and the Old Law, Christ’s teachings, the teachings of the Apostles and their epistles, and the things we now have to read as our New Testament all tell us how the church is to be established, run, and serve God.

While we are still merely human beings, we have both an obligation and a need to do our part to see that the church is working properly, focused the right direction, edifying, encouraging, but also exhorting members to do their best. The lessons below touch on these things.

Recordings of both lesson can be heard by clicking the link below. If you would like to have an outline of either lesson, or discuss the topics discussed in more detail, please use our Contact page to let us know what lesson you want a copy for.

  • If there is any confusion on a point made in lesson 1, listen to the start of lesson 2 for clarification. “Taking a shot” was not meant as in using a weapon, but as ‘having your say’ or ‘making them your verbal target’.
