Timing

Waynesville member, Roger Starnes, Jr. shares his lesson entitled, “Timing” using the scripture from Ecclesiastes 3 as his focus. While not focusing on the words of this passage so much, Roger chose images specifically based on the topics being discussed.

While chapter 3 begins with noting, “To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” This is the lead-in passage, but then we get to the verses that allow us to put photos with images to help retain these messages. Such as…

Verse 2 talks about being born, using a baby as the image. He also shares a passage from Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:10-12. Next is a time to die, using a tombstone. For ‘a time to plant’ with an image of a woman placing plants into a plastic sheet. This verse ends with ‘a time to pluck that which is planted’ and an image of heads of wheat.

The lesson goes on to follow the verses of this chapter with images to support each message, like steaks, cows, bulldozers and buildings, a man mortaring a wall, a woman weeping, a child laughing, a woman mourning, women dancing, a boy throwing a rock, a stone walkway to a lighthouse, a mother and daughter hugging, a man and woman having a serious discussion, money, empty wallets, safe deposit boxes, a trash can, a girl wearing torn jeans, a sewing machine, a woman saying “shhhhhhh”, a man screaming, a newlywed couple holding hands, a protest, a soldier with a gun, a wall painted up with peace statements, and a tree in a lake with stars in the background.
