Reflection & Resolution

Marvin Eads, from the Haynes Street congregation, joins us again this month and shares a lesson entitled, “Reflection & Resolution” which focuses on Haggai 1:3-11. Marvin begins by asking himself and us in attendance, at the end of 2024, is our faith stronger or weaker than the year(s) before? He also asks, how many people did we visit, study with or encourage to come to worship with us? How much time did we spend in Bible study? How many hours did we spend in prayer? Finally, was our behavior good or bad?

Based on the Haggai passage, he reminds us as Haggai did, to consider our ways. How does Marvin suggest we do this? By self-evaluation, growing and adding to our faith, judging ourselves before others, asking if we are motivated by love, caring for the souls of others, and finally, that we put on the “new man”.

Marvin concludes his lesson with these things: We need to set goals and keep them, as individuals and as a church. We need to not allow distractions to keep us from serving our Lord. Last, that we make God the priority of our lives.
