Waynesville member, Ryan Mortland shares the first part of his two-part lesson today entitled, “The Power of Doubt”. He begins by noting how many of us tell ourselves things like, I don‘t deserve this, or I‘m afraid I‘ll mess up, or I‘ll never succeed, or I’m not good enough, or I can’t do this. All of these are tools that Satan uses to keep us from doing what God wants from us, His children.
Satan uses tools like feelings of guilt or inadequacy or makes us feel we are not deserving of what God has for us. He paralyzes us with fear about making mistakes, amplifies failure, and holds us back from future action. He accuses us and belittles us and makes us feel we have little hope and wants us to focus on our failures. If we doubt our ability to do good, and have little hope of success, we will likely doubt the goodness in God’s Word.
In the end, Satan can cause us to question God’s word, not trust the goodness of God, be confused, and leave us with fear and anxiety. So what can we do?
As Ryan notes on his last slide, we can look to 2 Timothy 1:7 to see that God has given us a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.
