Our Fellowship Voyage

Jason Davis and his family have been with us on and off for the past few months. Today we finally got to enjoy a lesson from Jason after a long gap from before he had kids! His lesson for us today was “Our Fellowship Voyage”.

In the lesson he starts by sharing what “fellowship” is to many of us, based on our history and upbringing. These could be potluck meals, a group movie, talk, or sporting event, or just being a cast member on the Lord of the Rings movie!

Jason next shares what the Greek word “koinonia” means in several definitions. But then he transitions to what fellowship SHOULD be for us with regard to God and the church with many passages. A partnership with God, sharing of a physical gift, sharing in a common work, sharing in suffering, and even partnering with unrighteousness.

Next, Jason shares passages that show what we CAN’T do to have fellowship with God, and what we CAN do to have true fellowship with him. He also makes some fun metaphoric image comparisons to boats and fellow-ship.

He finishes his lesson by showing an image of an ancient ship that has both sails and rows of men who used giant paddles to move ships thousands of years ago to make a great point. Communication, practice, effort, and knowing your place are all required for fellowship to work well in the church and for God.

You can hear Jason’s lesson and see the text on his PowerPoint slides on our gallery below. Have a question or comment? Please ask us!
